I traded in my super economical Honda Fit in favor of a safer, sturdier ride. A Subaru Crosstrek.
It's smooth and comfortable, on the inside. While from the outside it's badass thanks to masculine lines and unique tough looking hub caps/wheels.
It runs on regular gasoline and has comparable mpg to the fit, while featuring responsive AWD. And a very healthy steering and turning radius. There's no real definition of what a "green" car is, but the first paragraph does say "more efficient cars" so I guess that's what this is referring to. For one, they added their difficult-to-reach "top safety pick+" category in 2012, which includes the "small overlap test" which crashes the left quarter of the car against a stationary object at 40 mph to duplicate an often seen crash in the real world. I've now had my new car for about a month and I'm still very happy with the purchase. I got an economical, simple to run car which has been that and more. Amazingly, it only took two hours to run through both display areas, which must be a record time for me. Then again, I recently traded in and acquired a brand new, economical model, so I'm officially off the car market. Though my car voyeur addiction goes on ;o)

Top five least expensive:
