Where Are Nissan and Infiniti Headed?

Great little article today on MSN's Exhaust Notes about where Nissan and Infiniti design is headed. The article is originally from AutoWeek.

It looks as if the companies are focusing on rear and front looks, separating the lights from the typical bumper line while allowing for some aerodynamicity. I think this has been noticed in the last few redesigns, starting with the Nissan Leaf and Altima, and following up with the new Infiniti M. [Below: Nissan Altima, Infiniti EX35]
Here's a quote from the article about information the global design chief, Shiro Nakamura, shared with the reporter:
"Probably we need a little bit more in the lineup for Infiniti, new models," Nakamura said. "We need some additional variation to get a larger customer base." He didn't give details but said going smaller was not the only option. When it comes to the Nissan brand's core lineup of sedans, Nakamura aims to give them more enhanced grilles and more upmarket surface treatment for a stronger brand image.[Right: 370Z]

I personally like how far Nissan and Infiniti designs have come. They started getting interesting with the GT-R and the Altima coupe and blossomed from there. All the models are a lot more appealing and aerodynamic now a-days. They kinda do the ole 370Z and GT-R proud to be part of the same family.
