Volvo Safety Testing eC-30

Back in early 2010 I saw a Volvo electric C-30 at the Chicago Auto Show, but haven't really heard anything else since.

I just found out from Wired Autopia that the company is rigorously testing the safety of its electric car, with a number of interesting X-ray like photos of the wreckage experiments, to reveal the impact on crumple zones and the electric components.

"'Our tests show it is vital to separate the batteries from the electric car’s crumple zones to make it as safe as a conventional car,' president and CEO Stefan Jacoby said in a statement."
