Automobile Brand and Switch

Did you know that if you're looking into getting a Chevrolet Volt you're very likely to end up buying the Chevrolet Cruze instead?

According to a recent article I read on CNNMoney (Shop for a Volt, Buy a Cruze) this type of switch is actually exactly what Chevrolet banked on by adding cars like the Cruze to its low-end offerings, and the Corvette to its high-end offerings.

According to Art Spinella, CNW Research president, and someone quoted in the article:
"Most of the dealers we've surveyed use the Volt as a bridge to show other Chevy products. About 80% of the people who go see it aren't intenders, they're just going to see what it's like."

Does this happen to you? You want to go for something environmentally-friendly and you end up buying something that's economical in both the purchase price and gas consumption senses? Or if you're aiming very high, you might end up with the medium-ranking model instead, while enjoying all the luxuries, bells, and whistles for much less moolah?
