Reading press mentions for the US Government's Cash for Clunkers program, informed me of two important tidbits (payoff!):
1) According to an NPR story, the disposed clunkers' engines are being permanently disabled as part of this program, creating fury and fist-shaking among used part seekers and mechanics everywhere.
2) According to an MSN/AutoWeek story, Chrysler doubled the Cash for Clunkers money and is seeing brisk sales of available inventory almost to exhaust available vehicles. They said they're manufacturing to orders/demand and no longer just manufacturing for inventory sake. Smart guys.
